More than 1400 people have been killed, and over 3,000 injured; after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan around midnight on September 1, 2025.
Entire villages have been flattened, leaving families trapped under the rubble and survivors with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Kunar Province, Afghanistan
One of the hardest-hit areas is Nurgal district in Kunar province, where hundreds of lives have been lost and many victims remain buried beneath collapsed homes. Roads leading to remote villages have been destroyed, cutting off families from urgent rescue and relief.
