Due to the unprecedented lockdown and restrictions on movement in Kashmir Valley imposed by the Indian Government since August 2019, thousands of people have been facing severe food insecurity. The COVID-19 pandemic has further aggravated this situation. A large number of families in the Kupwara District ran out of food stock and essential food items. 

Muslim Aid USA put its efforts into developing “Feed the Fasting” to support poor families with the distribution of food packages, in order for them to feed family members during the month of Ramadan.

Through Feed the Fasting, we distributed food packages to 1,440 individuals in the Kupwara District of Jammu Kashmir, including widows, orphans, disabled, and the eldery.

The Ramadan food packages consisted of:

• Wheat flour 
• Cooking oil 
• Dates
