“ Health care is a basic human right yet, 6.2 million preventable deaths occur every year under the age of 15 due to lack of adequate health care.”
According to the World Economic Forum, “In 2018, it’s thought that 6.2 million people under the age of 15 died. Of these – mostly preventable – deaths, 5.3 million were children under the age of five, and half of that number were in the first month of their life.”
Health care is a basic human right yet, 6.2 million people under the age of 15 died, deaths that were mostly preventable. Tragically, 5.3 million were children under the age of five, and half of that number were in the first month of their life.
Four out of every five deaths of children under five – are in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Public health systems are often poorly funded and under equipped. Major challenges are due to understaffing, lack of healthcare equipment, and inconsistent drug distribution.
