

Winter Emergency – Pakistan
In September, 2019, a powerful earthquake jolted the Mirpur and Bhimber districts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to the U.S Geological Survey, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.8, with aftershocks felt at a 4.4 magnitude days later. It was reported that 39 people died and more than 700 were injured. This earthquake also caused severe to moderate damages to hundreds of houses and buildings.
In response to this earthquake, Muslim Aid USA provided immediate, lifesaving relief to 1,430 individuals affected, by providing:
- 180 shelters to 180 families
- 100 safe water supplies/sources to ensure at least 800 people have access to safe drinking water
- Two portable x-ray machines
- One ultrasound machine
- Medicine procured to the Department of Health to provide immediate care to 1,000 patients
- 4 psychologists to provide psychosocial assistance to the affected people, including children and women
We also provided cooked food in the first three days after the earthquake for 3,500 individuals
