Did you know that nearly half of South Sudan’s population — 46 percent — is facing severe food shortages? This means 5.83 million individuals are struggling daily for sustenance.
And unfortunately, the situation is only escalating. In 2023, an overwhelming 76% of South Sudan’s population (9.4 million people), found themselves in desperate need of humanitarian aid. This was an increase of half a million individuals compared to the previous year.
From July 2023 to June 2024, it is anticipated that 1.65 million young children will face acute malnutrition, a silent yet relentless emergency.
The crisis is deepening due to economic decline, poor harvests, and the effects of global inflation — but MAUSA is actively responding. Our team is collaborating with local partners to provide emergency food relief and medical aid to those who are in greatest need.
