FIDYA
Where a person is unable to fast due to their ill health, a payment is given in substitution. Fidya is $12 per a day for each individual. So the month of Ramadan would be $12 x 30 (days of fasting) = $360. The money is used to feed the poor; the $10 would feed needy person two meals in one day.
KAFFARAH
This is when a fasting person deliberately breaks their fast. They are then required to redo the fast and make a payment for the broken fast. If they are unable to do so, they should feed 60 poor people for every fast missed, as a rate of $12 per person.
